Billie’s Laneway Essentials.
Hey Billie, are you there? 💚
If you’re talking about the first St Jerome’s Laneway Festival 2025 in Tamaki Makaurau Auckland on Waitangi Day, then yes I absolutely was. There wasn’t a chance in the world I would miss out on my brat summer, and straight from the Grammys to Western Springs, Charli XCX absolutely had us all entranced.
From the second the iconic green brat wall fell down on the stage and we knew Charli was mere seconds away, she had us in the palm of her hands. From starting with 360 and pulling down the brat wall, to strutting behind and in front of the stage for the likes of Von Dutch, to having the crowd wild until the very end of her final song, her and Icona Pop’s I Love It.
The vibes were high, the girlies were all SO NICE, and thankfully the sun was shining (which felt like a rare occurrence for our 2024-2025 summer festival season!). And there were a few products that were absolute STARS for me on the day, without further adieu here’s Billie’s Laneway Essentials for 2025:
Jeuneora Full Stop SP50 Glow Cream.
RRP $57 from Jeuneora.co.nz or Farmers.
From the second this launched last year this became my favourite ever SPF/sunblock for my face. Not only is it super nourishing and hydrating, it also sits on the skin beautifully under makeup for the full day. I’m a bit of a ghost in skin tone, and I’m pleased to say that I avoided any nasty sunburns from a full day of beautiful festival sun.
Duo False Eyelash Glue (for face gems!).
RRP $15.00 from Mecca.
Do you ever wonder how people manage to stick gems to their face that survive a hot day in the sun, or long evening sweating to music? My hack to make gems stick is eyelash glue, and my absolute favourite brand is Duo. Nothing will frustrate you more when trying to apply false eyelashes or gems than having a bad brand of glue that makes your life harder, and Duo has never let me down. Make sure you get a clear-coloured glue for face gems, as Duo also comes in dark colours for darker eye looks.
MCOBeauty Summer Daze Tinted Lip Oil in Made You Blush.
RRP $20.00 from Woolworths.
I have been wearing this all summer, as it feels super nourishing and gives a beautiful ‘your lips but better’ nude that’s been highly-complimented. When I’d done a strong winged eyeliner and jewel look across my eyes, I didn’t want to have a heavy red or dark lip and look too intense. This lip oil fit easily into my festival bag, was easy to reapply throughout the day, and looked beautiful.
PUMA Speedcat Sneakers .
RRP $199 from NZ.PUMA.com.
Sported by the likes of international superstars like Dua Lipa and Rosé, as well as local IT girls Frankie Venter and Troi Atkins, it feels like it’s a Speedcat summer baby. Zero complaints from over 15,000 steps in these sneakers, whether it was navigating Western Springs’ rolling hills to find a spot of shade or being crammed in standing with a 30,000 strong crowd for hours.
