Four tips for starting your day on the right note.

Starting your day seems like it should just be wake up, get ready and go.

However this hectic rush just doesn’t work for me. Living with anxiety, PTSD and insomnia I always want to start my day super calmly!

So I wanted to share the four ways I start every morning positively without fail:

1. Walk

The first thing I do is go for a walk, I don't think I just go, this starts off my circadian rhythm and really puts me in a positive mood! Plus a breath of fresh air does wonders for my brain and helps wake me up.

2. Meditate

Once i’m back home, I snuggle back up in bed and meditate for at least 20 minutes. It feels so good to be back cuddly in bed and I feel like the fresh air put me in a good headspace for meditating.

3. Journal

Journaling is a bit part of my day and is really helpful for focussing on the good in life.

I write out any negative thoughts I am having, and then ten things I am grateful for. It’s so important to think about all the things (no matter how small) that are making you happy or that you are looking forward to.

4. Read

Waking up and looking straight at your phone can be like going from 0 to 100. One minute I’m waking up from a nice sleep and then the next I am seeing the news of the world (which is most often grim.) Instead I read 10 pages of a book I am loving! It's super important to me to not check my phone until I’m in a good space because I never know what is going to come up and what I will be triggered by!
