Five Hacks for Living Luxe on a Budget.

Feeling the pinch in your pocket this recession but still want to step out in style? Watch out for your mates - some of them may be stopping you from a good deal to keep you living luxe!

A new survey from NZ-born deals site GrabOne found that 1 in 10 Kiwis are gatekeeping their money saving tips and not sharing them with their loved ones, even in the cost of living crisis.

Statistically speaking, that’s someone in your close circle with a shopping hack up their sleeve. While we’re sailing through this economic storm, it’s time to spill the beans and share our ultimate money-saving hacks when shopping online so you don’t have to scrimp on style. Talk about stealth wealth!

Give your monthly subscriptions a reality check.

Be honest with yourself, are you getting your money’s worth out of your in-studio Pilates membership when a free YouTube video at home will net the same results?

Why keep your Apple+ sub ticking over when Love Island is free on TVNZ+ anyway? And could you handle a few ads on Spotify without losing your groove? Be cutthroat and remove what’s not worth the $ where only you’ll know you’ve saved!

Jump aboard the influencer train.

Not just for shopping inspo, you can cut the right deal when an influencer you follow offers an exclusive discount code.

Look into the brands you shop from and make sure you’re following their influencer pals in case the likes of #LIV20 pops up on your feed! Or hunt down influencers that do the work for you with tips on saving money, like Sabby Jey’s boujee on a budget series.

Check before you buy.

Before you commit, dive onto local deal sites and price comparison platforms.

Don’t just stick to the same dentist or lash technician because you always have. The grass may be greener – and cheaper - somewhere else so that you can keep up with all your self-care must haves!

Lots of GrabOne’s deals are more than 50% off the regular price, including luxe dinners out at top restaurants across the country.

Top tip: Google search a certain brand or retailer to see if a competitor is offering a discount in the top result.

Know your newsletters.

Many retailers offer juicy discounts for your first purchase once you’re signed up. If you haven’t shopped on the site before, it’s worth popping your email in to see what savings they have up their sleeve so you can keep on shopping without dropping.

Don’t worry about inbox overload - you can always unsubscribe a few days later or make a new email account specifically for those discount eDMs.

Play hard to get with your shopping cart.

If you’re not in a rush, leave items lingering in your cart for a day or two. The ‘Oops you’ve forgotten something’ follow up email from the retailer may just be the discounted sweetener you needed to seal the deal!
