Billie’s Guide to Wireless Earbuds.
The days of the cord are gone and honestly we’re so glad!
No matter how neatly we’d coil our headphones and place them in our bags, without fail they would come out in knots with keys and lip balm attached.
On the hunt for a pair of wireless headphones to call our own, Billie’s Fleur and Lauren trialled some earbuds to give you, the Billie reader, some honest reviews in case you were wanting to buy some too.
Here are three awesome options for you to consider on your earbud buying journey:
For those on a budget:
JABRA ELITE 3 - $129.99 from Jabra.co.nz
After months of envy watching all of my flatmates enjoy their cord-free listening I decided I needed to invest but with so many on the market, it was hard to choose. I’ve been lucky to trial the Jabra Elite 3 for the past two months and I’m honestly really stoked with them.
Firstly, these guys fit in my ears!! This may sound so stupid but I’ve been blessed/cursed with very small ears. I’ve always had trouble finding headphones that fit my ears but that are also comfortable but along came Jabra.
Secondly, the price. Honestly I just could not bring myself to spend 400+ on AirPods Pro. As much as I wanted to look like a baller it just seemed excessive when there were likely great equivalents on the market. At $129, these are just as good as their Apple counterparts IMHO.
Thirdly, these guys have a great battery life, produce really good sound, and are even noise canceling which is awesome for the price. I love listening to Billie Eillish ‘Happier Than Ever’ full noise on these bad boys.
For group projects:
SONY LINKBUDS - $325.00 from Sony.co.nz
These are the most unique in-ear headphones we’ve seen, and we’re totally picking up what they’re putting down. Instead of focussing on noise cancellation, these guys actually want you to hear your surroundings clearly, all while delivering top-quality sounds.
The unique design fits comfortably into your ear, allowing you to wear them all the time so that they can “connect all your worlds”; letting you hear your friends without having to stop listening to Harry Styles’ new album on repeat.
Even better they’re a sustainable option, using recycled plastic for the aesthetic parts and smart plastic-free packaging. And wildly, it looks like they have a ‘love it or your money back’ promotion on until July– so surely worth a try, right?
Note: Sadly these are not a great option for anyone with small ears. As they are such a unique fit, they didn’t quite sit right in Fleur’s very small ears 😂
For Apple addicts:
AIRPODS PRO - $449 from Apple.co.nz
Listen, we appreciate these are undoubtedly out of a lot of people’s price bracket; but they’re incredibly intuitive if you have an iPhone or a Mac.
This is noise cancellation and sound quality done incredibly well, meaning your music automatically pauses when you take a bud out and plays once that pesky interruption is done. If you want to escape entirely (fair enough), these will help you do it well. Plus I mean they are baller as hell.
