My Version: Riiki Reid.

My Version chats to Kiwi stars and people of influence to give a glimpse into their time as a teen and see the things they are currently obsessed with!

Riiki Reid is an artist and musician.  She has two singles and documentaries as part of the Waiata Anthems movement.

The Reo Māori version of her hit single The City, and a brand new musical collaboration with fellow musician Muroki - Kārewa, are available now on
waiataanthems.co.nz.

Obsessed RN.

Must have beauty product:

An Eyelash Curler. I love a good spider leg look.

The item of clothing I’m definitely over wearing:

Black boots! I need to change it up.

Currently reading:

Think Like A Monk by Jay Shetty

Snacking on:

Grapes or Corn Thins. My go- to “naughty snack” at the moment is iced animals…

Can’t stop watching on TikTok:

@lisaperese_ videos make me properly cackle!

Next place on the list to travel to:

Europe or South America! Both in the summertime.

Dreaming of:

Overseas travel, warm weather and bikinis on a beach.

I’m currently inspired by:

Music in the euro dance world, particularly french house music. Also inspired by euro summer aesthetics and landscapes.

My favourite way to relax is:

Walking my dog or just getting outside.

I stay healthy by:

Getting outside everyday for a walk and getting outside for a run at least twice a week.

When I was younger…

One thing I love about Gen-Z is:

The lesser presence of social media and burning your own CD’s.

If I could give my teenage self one bit of advice, what would it be:

Give everything and anything a try.

My dream job as a teen was:

To be a backup dancer in music videos or for live tours supporting big artists. I wanted to do this equally as much as I wanted to be a musician myself.

My favourite part of being a teenager was:

Getting to see your friends every single day! It is so hard to see the people you love with everyones busy lives these days!

Best piece of advice I ever received as a teen was:

To not rush, be young, be present. Everything will happen in its own time.

My first job was:

Technically it was cleaning the kindergarten down the road from my house. But my first proper job was dance -  teaching/coaching hip hop crews.

My biggest fashion faux-pas was:

Oh my gosh Supré Black Chiffon Skirts. Why that was a craze, I have no idea. But I LIVED for them when I started high school. And fully blacked out high-top converse.

My biggest inspiration was:

Beyonce. She’s a triple threat and does it all. I wanted to act, sing and dance.
