My Version: Nancy Fifita.

My Version chats to Kiwi stars and people of influence to give a glimpse into their time as a teen and see the things they are currently obsessed with!

Say hello to 16 year-old singer Nancy Fifita, whose song On My Way has been chosen for the credits in Dame Valerie Adams upcoming documentary feature, More Than Gold.

Obsessed RN.

Currently bingeing:

I’ve been in a nostalgic mood lately, so I've been binge watching Disney's Jessie.

Song on repeat:

Music will always be my right-hand man. I have so many songs I could list, but the song that takes first place right now would be my latest single On My Way featuring Young Go. This is my motivational hype song. Lyrical it talks about how you shouldn’t let anything get in the way of you achieving your goals and dreams. You only need to compete with yourself and no one else.

Must have beauty product:

An absolute must is mascara and lip gloss. Lashes always gotta look on point and lips always gotta shine lol.

The item of clothing I’m definitely over wearing:

Definitely shoes and to be exact Jordan 1’s. I love my Jordan 1’s all the way!

Currently reading:

The last book I just finished reading was Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. It was such a rollercoaster of emotions and opened my imagination and creativity to so much more. I loved it just as much as I loved the Movie!

Snacking on:

My favorite thing to snack on is Spicy Chicharrons aka Pork Rinds. My family and I are all hooked on these chips.

Can’t stop watching on TikTok:

I have been obsessed with watching DIY, Dancing, and cooking tik toks. So much talent everywhere and not only do I get to learn but I get to also share my talents as well.

Dreaming of:

Uplifting people by doing what I love most, sharing positive music and being a role model and advocate for youth. Music is my safe place; it would be a dream if my music was someone else’s safe place too!

Next place on the list to travel to:

I have so many places I’d love to travel to, but first on the list would definitely be Italy's Portofino. I just find it so beautiful and I want to try all the different Italian dishes.

I’m currently inspired by:

The world around me, with everything going on in this world it inspires me to continue doing better and to share more positivity and uplifting messages through everything I do.

My favourite way to relax is:

My favourite way to relax is being with my family and hanging out with my little bestie, my nephew Johnny Boy.

I stay healthy by:

Staying active and making better choices on my food intake. This also goes for mental health too. It’s very important to exercise your body and mind often so that it can continue to grow and progress!

When I was younger…

If I could give my teenage self one bit of advice, what would it be:

LOVE YOURSELF! Many people in this world will tell you how to look and act and what to do. Everyone will always have an opinion but the opinion that matters most is yours! Love yourself first.

My dream job as a teen was:

To become a worldwide entertainer as a singer, actress, model and dancer. Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve loved watching people perform in whatever it is they did. I always saw myself on a stage or on the screen and with hard work, little by little my dreams are coming true.

Best piece of advice I ever received as a teen was:

Be the best version of myself. When I’m at my best not only do I feel good as a person but everyone around me feels good. Being the best version of yourself is the greatest gift you could give yourself because you’re helping yourself become better and better each day.

My biggest fashion faux-pas as a teenager was:

Personally, I don’t enjoy the big poofy feather dresses, of course those who have worn it look beautiful in it but personally I could never see myself wearing that type of dress.

My biggest inspiration was:

My biggest inspiration was and always will be my family. They’ve all done so much for me. Growing up I always saw the hard work my parents put in to provide for my siblings and I with things they didn’t have growing up. Even now as a teenager, working for my future I can honestly say I understand the importance of work and good work ethics. I see my older siblings working hard to provide for themselves and their own families too. I hope one day my kids can look up to me the way I look up to my parents.

One thing I love about Gen Z is:

Gen-Z is a very unique generation but what I love most about it is how determined we are. When a Gen-Z kid puts their mind to something they’ll find a way to make it happen.

Nancy’s latest single, On My Way is featured on Dame Valerie Adams film, More Than Gold which is in cinemas across Aotearoa now and is available on your favourite music streaming service.
