My Version: Libby Johnston.

My Version chats to Kiwi stars and people of influence to give a glimpse into their time as a teen and see the things they are currently obsessed with!

This New Zealand Music Month, we are putting a focus on our country’s amazing up-and-comers.

Say hello to Gen-Z songstress, Libby Johnston.

Obsessed RN.

Currently bingeing:

I’m currently on my third rewatch of The Last of Us.

Song on repeat:

“One That Got Away” by MUNA. If you haven’t watched the livestream of their Coachella set, you need to get onto that ASAP!

Favourite Insta account to follow:

@WeRateDogs … need I say more

Must have beauty product:

NYX thick it stick it brow gel - it’s affordable and works wonders!

The item of clothing I’m definitely over wearing:

My oversized graphic tees but I refuse to wear anything else because who says comfort can’t be stylish.

Currently reading:

The Institute by Stephen King.

Snacking on:

Gluten free Vegemite on (gluten free) toast. You can take the girl out of New Zealand but you can’t take New Zealand out of the girl.

Can’t stop watching on TikTok:

@woofyandjenna

Dreaming of:

My EP which ~may or may not be~ coming in the next few months!

Next place on the list to travel to:

Las Vegas.

I’m currently inspired by:

Taylor Swift girlbossing her way across America performing to sold-out stadiums during a public breakup.

My favourite way to relax is:

Blasting music whilst taking the world’s longest shower.

I stay healthy by:

Remembering to drink enough water and having friends with good hearts.

When I was younger…

One thing I love about Gen-Z is:

How passionate and informed we are. I’m constantly impressed by how our generation educates themselves on current events and social issues in order to move forward and work on the damage going on around us.

If I could give my teenage self one bit of advice, what would it be:

Don’t let tall poppy syndrome get you down! Keep doing what you’re doing and don’t worry about what other people think.

My dream job as a teen was:

Performing. Chuffed to be making my younger self proud :’)

My favourite part of being a teenager was:

Without a doubt, being a part of the One Direction fandom.

Best piece of advice I ever received as a teen was:

During my freshman year of college my mum told me, “keep building on yourself; it doesn’t matter if life is a bit hit and miss, just try and enjoy yourself.”

My first job was:

Babysitting my little sisters.

My biggest inspiration was:

Taylor Swift… so… nothing’s changed.

My biggest fashion faux-pas was:

Oof, my 2010s wardrobe from Jay Jays and Supré with my chunky blonde highlights was quite something!
