My Version: Evil Twins.

My Version chats to Kiwi stars and people of influence to give a glimpse into their time as a teen and see the things they are currently obsessed with!

Say hello to Steph and Nat (AKA The Evil Twins) - a pair of entrepreneur sisters who feature in TVNZ’s new foodie series ‘Sik Fan Lah’.

Obsessed RN.

Song on repeat:

Nat: All Mine (Jersey Club) - Dj Taj, Brent Faiyaz.

Steph: Boy’s A Liar - PinkPantheress.

Favourite Insta account to follow:

Nat: @peggygou_

Steph: @simihaze

Next place on the list to travel to:

Nat: I’ve never been to Europe before and so I’d love to go there. I’m also keen to go back to Japan again because it’s been my fave place I’ve travelled to so far.

Steph: Europe, to visit my best friend.

The item of clothing I’m definitely over wearing:

Nat: My Evil Twins hoodie! Could never over-wear.

Steph: My baggy jorts..

We’re currently inspired by:

Nat: Friends doing cool and amazing things.

Steph: Art, music, food, and friends.

Our favourite way to relax is:

Nat: To not do anything. A movie night is great and of course you gotta have the cheese platter and snacks.

Steph: Sleeping or sitting in the sun with a can of cold coke.

Nat: Rainbow sour strips.

Steph: Kimchi.

Our favourite place to eat out:

Nat: Kazu Yakitori for great authentic Japanese food and Highwater Eatery for delicious fine dining in Welly.

Steph: Margot in Welly.

Coffee order:

Nat: Flat white!

Steph: Flat white or an iced latte.

Go-to recipe:

Nat: Pancakes are my specialty. They hit different at night.

Steph: Avocado, Eggs, bacon on toast…. I can only make eggs on toast…

Our favourite childhood meal:

Nat: Mum’s congee soup with bacon bone (we call it juk juk). It’s one of the best Chinese comfort foods.

Steph: Mum’s dumplings.

When I was younger…

If I could give my teenage self one bit of advice, what would it be:

Nat: This hits deep because high school was the loneliest part of my life. What I would say to my teenage self is don’t be so harsh and critical of yourself. The person you are in high school isn’t going to determine the person you are in the future. High school only takes up a tiny percentage of your life and you will constantly grow into the beautiful woman that you WILL become.

Steph: I would say that everything is going to be okay and to stop worrying about the future. Everything will work out.

Our favourite part of being a teenager was:

Nat: Enjoying life without adult responsibilities. We’re trying to adapt this mentality into our business, which is to play hard now and enjoy life later, without having to deal with a 9-5 job in the future.

Steph: Being carefree. Need that energy back in my adulthood.

Our biggest inspiration was:

Nat: Our brother in law Victor. I was 11 years old when he got me into drawing. Ever since, all I ever did was create art because I loved it so much. I still remember that spark of passion that was fueled in me. He also made me realise that there is more to life than just uni. We would have never started Evil Twins without him. We are here because of him today.

Steph: Our parents because my mum moved to NZ to give my siblings and I a better life. They started their own fruit and vege shop and worked incredibly hard. Also, my best friend Thomasin. Her dedication and work ethic inspired me greatly in high school especially at such a young age. She made me want to find my own passion and work hard.

One thing we love about Gen Z is:

Nat: I love how open-minded and expressive Gen-Z is. We aren’t afraid to speak up on issues such as mental health and social problems around the world.

Steph: Gen Z’s acceptance of the world and to human beings. We are more outspoken, unique and funny. We are just unapologetically ourselves.
