My Version: Bella Bavin.

New

My Version chats to Kiwi stars and people of influence to give a glimpse into their time as a teen and see the things they are currently obsessed with!

Say hello to Bella Bavin from Kiwi pop-rock band, Coast Arcade!

Obsessed RN.

Currently bingeing:

Modern Family! It’s the best.

Song on repeat:

Portions for Foxes - Rilo Kiley. This song is just a masterpiece, the guitars, the arrangement and the vocals are soooooo good.

Favourite Insta account to follow:

@shityoushouldcareabout always keeping me updated with the happenings of the world and giving me my daily Harry Styles boost.

Must have beauty product:

I don’t use make-up that often but my go-to for a minimal “no make-up, make-up look” is the Smashbox Halo Plumping Dew.

The item of clothing I’m definitely over wearing:

I can’t seem to move past the doc martens stage hey?! They have such a grip on me.

Currently reading:

I’m not reading a book currently but I spend a lot of time online reading articles and interviews about my favourite bands and music idols.

Snacking on:

Pretzels, always pretzels.

Can’t stop watching on TikTok:

I’m in deep on Guitar tok. I love looking at other people's guitar collections and the modifications they’ve made to their instruments or pedal boards.

Dreaming of:

Moving to a small surf town somewhere and setting up my own studio to make cool tunes.

Next place on the list to travel to:

Definitely Australia, it calls to me!

I’m currently inspired by:

Currently, I’m enjoying taking inspiration from the people around me, my friends, family, and fellow musicians. I think as a musician it’s quite easy to feel uninspired or like your creative tap has run dry. Inspiration doesn’t always have to be something super deep, it could just be the small things that surround you in your day to day.

My favourite way to relax is:

Scroll endlessly through Pinterest for fit inspo, graphic design inspo, jewellery inspo and all the inspo I could ever need.

I stay healthy by:

I stay healthy by: I think mental health is just as important as physical health so I make sure I make time for myself to think, reflect and touch base with me!

When I was younger…

If I could give my teenage self one bit of advice, what would it be:

I am still my teenage self! I’m 19 and turning 20 in May. I think if I could give younger Bella one piece of advice it would be to enjoy being young and continue to make the most of every opportunity offered to you.

My dream job as a teen was:

I’ve always wanted to be a musician, from the first moment I picked up the guitar, I knew that there was no other path for me! I clearly never moved past it!

Best piece of advice I ever received as a teen was:

It doesn’t matter how slowly you go as long as you don’t stop! I can’t remember who said this to me, but it really stuck as I’ve always been super goal-oriented. After completing one goal, I’m so quick to jump to the next rather than enjoying the journey. It was a good reminder that your progress doesn’t always have to be quick, it can be slow, as long as you are still moving forward.

My favourite part of being a teenager is:

Honestly, I think it’s hard to reflect on the best part of being a teenager while I’m still a teenager, so maybe I’ll get back to you on this one!

My first job was:

I taught Martial Arts for a number of years from when I was 13 until I was 17 to younger kiddos. I really loved it and the kids were awesome, I definitely miss it! Fun fact, I’m a black belt in Taekwondo.

My biggest fashion faux-pas was:

My biggest pre-tween error was a quick fedora phase… still haunted…

My biggest inspiration was:

One of my biggest Guitar heroes has always been Slash. The way he writes his solos is so melodic and GnR’s songs wouldn’t be the same without him - he’s pretty iconic.

One thing I love about Gen Z is:

How strong willed we are, when we want something done, there is a self-belief and confidence that we can do it!

Listen to Coast Arcade on Spotify and you can check out Bella and the rest of the band on Instagram.
