Five A+ female teen friendships streaming right now.

Gone are the days of toxic female friendships like Serena and Blair.

Don’t get me wrong - I loved Gossip Girl but it was often difficult to watch the two of them turn on each other as quickly as you can say bitch (for no good reason!).

While the five friendships in these shows aren’t perfect either, they are far more authentic and at the end of the day ovaries always come before brovaries! (if you didn’t get this reference please watch Parks & Recreation immediately!!!)

So if you need some new watching material, here are five shows with epic female teen friendships.

Do Revenge.

Watch on Netflix.

The official blurb: A dethroned queen bee at a posh private high school strikes a secret deal with an unassuming new student to exact revenge on each other's enemies.

Firstly, the vibe of this is *chefs kiss*.

Like if nothing else, watch it for the many, many fashion moments that I’m still not quite over.

Drea (played by Riverdale’s Camila Mendes) and Eleanor (Stranger Thing’s Maya Hawke) become an unlikely force to be reckoned with when they discover they have both been betrayed. Instead of seeking revenge personally, they ‘Do Revenge’ on each other’s nemeses.

This is one of the best teen/high school films I have seen in a long time and has some epic twists and turns. These girls are clever, cunning, chic af bosses who end up finding the best friend they didn’t know they needed.

Booksmart.

Watch on Neon.

The official blurb: On the eve of high school graduation, star students Molly and Amy vow to make up for lost time as they embark on one night of teenage rebellion.

While this may have not been a super recent release - it deserves all the hype.

Directed by Olivia Wilde (YUP Harry’s GF) this pretty much is a story about two VERY smart friends who have forgone any kind of traditional high school fun in favour of homework, extracurriculars and getting into the best possible college (university).

From the get-go these two are #friendgoals and honestly I think we all need to start complimenting each other like Molly and Amy compliment each other. Just watch 👇

Booksmart is a wholesome, beautiful and realistic (FAR more realistic than the others lol) film that shows how awesome female teen friendships can be.

Fakes.

Watch on Netflix.

The official blurb: Teenage best friends Zoe and Becca set out to build their own fake ID empire, but when business starts booming, their life of crime gets way too real.

Although the opening credits of this show will tell you it’s based on a true story - it is in fact completely fictional. (I googled it immediately, alongside everyone else who watched it apparently.)

However I could absolutely believe that two (teenage) boss ass babes such as Becca and Zoe could pull off something that sophisticated.

Could my high school best friend and I have started a fake ID business? No, probably not. But mostly because I feel like Gen-Z are way more entrepreneurial go-getters than us Millennials. Also 2008 technology was just not the same.

Whilst this friendship is a bit of a rollercoaster, they start off on a high and also this show was wild and I feel like you’ll all love it.

The School for Good & Evil.

Watch on Netflix.

The official blurb: Best friends Sophie and Agatha find their bond put to the test when they're whisked away to a magical school for future fairy-tale heroes and villains.

If you love a bit of fantasy, you’ll like the book-turned-Netflix movie The School for Good & Evil.

Besties Agatha and Sophie live in a land far far away where there is talk of princesses, princes, witches and warlocks but only in books.

Sophie however is convinced that the mythical legend that townsfolk get whisked away to an actual magical land is true. Romantic, whimsical Sophie is also convinced her true destiny is to be a princess whereas her cynical tom-boy friend Agatha thinks it’s just a bit ridiculous.

Long story short… The School for Good and Evil does in fact exist but it may or may not have got the girls mixed up and sent them to the wrong schools.

While this show is definitely far more wholesome than some of the others on this list with little to no swearing (looking at you Do Revenge), it still has an epic female friendship where they prove they would do anything for one another.

Boo, Bitch.

Watch on Netflix.

The official blurb: Two senior BFFs make a last-ditch attempt to be seen. But when one of them becomes a ghost, she'll need to really live her best life — while she can.

Much like Booksmart, Boo, Bitch takes on the nerdy girls Erika (To All the Boy’s Lana Condor and Gia (TikTok’s Zoe Colletti) that kept their heads down, trying to make up for it narrative.

Unlike Booksmart, this takes a HUGE turn at around the five minute mark when one of the girls becomes a ghost. YUP A GHOST. It may all sound a bit ridiculous but it actually works.

Although someone has technically ‘died’ this show is pretty light and fun most of the way through!

These two are adorable friends just trying to figure out what the hell happened and how to make it out of limbo into the after life.
